This is a major revision to Yao Pack with many changes to how the modpack is structured. Not only are there several changes client side, including a whole new main menu and a new tutorial world, but plenty of brand new mods have been added as well. More notably, large focus has been placed on expanding player progression and exploration. I've been playing through various other modpacks as of late, including the painfully difficult (but really fun) RLCraft, and I got very inspired by the way several of them handle progression. This is something Yao Pack's been lacking in, with very few ways to actually "progress" other than getting better tools and gear- or perhaps killing the bosses in Twilight Forest, Aether and the Betweenlands. The mod "Reskillable" is now included, which grants a whole new skill + level up menu where you can level up various skills within several areas to unlock new abilities and enhance your already existing ones. You also need to level up some skills a little bit to use some tools and items, encouraging you to use new tools and items. You use regular Minecraft XP levels to level up these skills, and as a result XP farms have been nerfed with this update as well (they are still possible, but not as easy to make anymore. Spawners don't grant XP anymore, for example). Furthermore, combat has been upgraded with the mod BetterCombat and ambience and audio has been overhauled thanks to SoundFilter and DynamicSurroundings. Mob difficulty has also been slightly increased and InfernalMobs is now also included (but tweaked to fit with the rest of the mods in the pack).
New mods include:
* AdHooks (Hook launchers!)
* BetterCombat (Enhanced combat, including sprint attacking and dual wielding weapons!)
* Defiledlands (A new corrupted biome which spreads across the world and with new mobs and items)
* Dynamic Surroundings (A whole new sound experience with new sounds for various actions and enhanced ambience with neat effects like echoing in caves and other large enclosed areas)
* FancyBlockParticles (3D block particles, very fancy)
* Fairylights (New decorative lighting!)
* Forgotten Items (A plethora of new items and tools)
* Grapple Mod (Grappling hooks!)
* Infernal Mobs (More difficult enemies!)
* Item Physics (Items now have physics and can float in water (or sink if they're too heavy))
* LagGoggles (Press the HOME key to find out what is causing the lag!)
* ReSkillable (A new leveling system with plenty of skills and abilities to unlock!)
* Roguelike Dungeons (It's back! I managed to fix the lag issue)
* SnowRealMagic (Various snow-related improvements)
* SpartanWeaponry (New weapons, including rapiers and daggers!)
And more!
Other changes:
* A tutorial world has been added by default! (It's still an early W.I.P, feel free to help with it's construction on Discord!)
* Ore generation balancing (Osmium is now much less common)
* Over 300 new structures and dungeon variations!
* A brand new title screen and menu!
* Minor tweaks and changes.
* The new recommended RAM amount for playing Yao Pack is 4GB or more.
* A new file server host = super fast downloads and updating of Yao Pack!
Because of the size of the update, and because it alters so many aspects, it's highly recommended that you start a new world (your old worlds should still work fine, but there may be unforseen consequences to loading your old world in the new update. Therefore, MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR WORLDS).
