If you're asking about how to manage without the vanilla tools, here's the basic method: Get yourself enough wood to make the Tinker's Construct tables (Stencil Table, Part Builder, Tool Station), and make those as soon as you can. Get some flint (from gravel). Make some basic tools (out of wood and flint, because those parts can be made directly in the Part Builder and do not need a smeltery). These will only let you mine the basics, but as you gain expertise with the tool it will upgrade itself a level. You will want to replace your tool heads (at least) as you go along with better materials in order to mine a greater variety of items. There's a progression to the materials you'll need for the tools and the materials you can mine with the given tool. WAILA will show you which things are "harvestable" with your current tool, and the tool-level required for harvest. Some additional notes: * If you're having a hard time finding any particular material, check out the Ex Nihilo mod. Make a hammer (the Ex Nihilo kind).
