Technical Problems/Crashes:
Java: 64-bit Java is required; 32-bit Java can't allocate enough memory to handle the modpack.
RAM: Recommended 2-4GB RAM allocated to Java in the Technic Launcher Java Options.
If you experience crashes or other technical oddities, I'm happy to try and help. Post about your problem in the Discussion area. Know that I can't do much with reports like "when I run your modpack it crashes." If you want useful help you must provide useful information, such as crash reports or detailed steps to reproduce the problem.
Getting Started:
When starting a new world, select Fun World Generation. This will create skyland terrain using all the biomes available.
Once in the game, know that this pack has Iguana's Tweaks for Tinkers' Construct. That means that vanilla minecraft wooden pickaxes won't work properly (the tooltip will remind you of this). Instead, gather enough wood to make Tinkers Construct work benches as described in the starting book, and find some gravel to make flint (consult NEI for the recipes). Make your first pickaxe out of a flint pickaxe with a wood handle and binding.
Harvest levels have been adjusted for a longer early game, but tools can be leveled up as you use them. Consult the tooltip on the tool to see stats. As you use a tool it can gain mining XP to dig better things. Your flint pickaxe will level up and be able to dig coal and copper ore. After that build a smeltery to process metals and you'll be able to upgrade your tools with new tool parts.
Servers:
If you run a server with Electric Doorknob Steam & Sky and would like it to be featured on the main modpack description page, and be considered for inclusion in the servers.dat file in future pack updates, please contact me via this site.
Servers are featured so that players without the means to run their own server, or those with nobody to play with can enjoy the pack with others. Server operatrs who would like their servers to be featured should meet these basic criteria:
Open Access: The server needs an open access policy which is accepting of all new players. Security features may be used to limit or remove trolls or malicious players, and whitelists are acceptible so long as the process for new users is simple and quick.
Continuously Operating: The server should be up most of the time, and should be updated to the current pack versions with minimal delays.
Fixed Location: The server should be on a static IP address or domain name to ease record keeping.
