on a quest it says you have to build an enrichment chamber but when you craft it nothing happens so you cant move on to the digital miner quest.

I suspect I already fixed this locally. It has a lot to do with Mekanism metadata and the detection rules. I did not understand them very well when I first created the quests. For now, you can probably beat the quest by cheating in one. Just switch to cheat mode in NEI and you should be able to gift yourself one.

is there a server for this i can connect to??

I have only known of people setting up private servers for their own group of friends, sorry. I always wanted to get the server details for myself just to see what happens, but they conveniently change the subject.

I always understand tech mods, unless it is one of 5 different tech mods that I am sure no one understands, but I never really got too much into the details of the tech stuff.

I discovered I need to integrate with Solder if I want to support a mod list, and it might help with the quest books screwing up with incremental releases. Does anybody know somebody will to host the files on their own hosting? My personal hosting would implode trying to do this.

ok i updated it and the world i was playing on the quest book won't even open. :(
Uerdari 9 years ago
The quest book itself won't open? Something that happens sometimes when upgrading over is the questing mode gets disabled. Did you notice any text about come up in the chat box about it being disabled? Well, regardless, you should be able to force it back by opening the chat box ('T' key) and typing '/hqm quest' I can't say I'm convinced that's the problem you're having, but it's my best guess.

You might have to restart Minecraft after clearing out the old data. I'm not sure.

ok everything seems to be working right thank you so much for listening and fixing things for me. i love the way it works now

I can say from a *fresh install* that the 1.1.1 quest book will work. I suspect all the changes to the quest book across both updates have rendered the previous quest books unusable with the Hardcore Questing Mode mod. You might have to delete your hardcore questing mode data, but you can use the cheat book to mark off all the quests you already did. Type '/hqm edit' into the chat box ('T' key by default). That should give you a cheat book. You can reset your status there, and then use the cheat book by shift-clicking all the quests you want to mark as complete. That should be able to restore you to where you were overall.

i had to go one step further i had to reinstall the launcher as it would not let me paste the link to any mod pack not just this one ....

I'm seeing various comments about quest book problems. I had been trying to repair them, with lots of tests last night. I can't tell if there is something peculiar between fresh installs versus doing upgrades. I will not be able to look into it until very late tonight CST. Say, probably 10+ hours from now. I will target making sure fresh installations are stable.

Wow I did not notice the comments until now. I'm sorry. So Uerdari, there have been quite a few problems with the quests in 1.0. The biggest problem was with machines and tools that have some metadata for them. I believe I fixed the detection rules for all of them. If I missed one, I at least know what should work on them now. I should also say I don't know what will happen to your quest book if you update to 1.1.1, but you can always type /hqm edit into your console to spawn in a cheat book, and then shift-click all the quests you want to mark as complete. That will give you some recourse if something screws up. Some ideas: 1. If your inventory is too full to accept the reward, it won't let you take the items. This will happen even if it could stack some of the rewards with stuff already in your inventory. 2. If you are playing the older quest book and still want to get the goodies, try cheating in the item and submitting that. This was part of the metadata problem. 3. Failing that, you can /hqm edit and move past the quest. I know this is suboptimal because you want the book to verify you did everything right. If you are feeling brave, you can try the switch to 1.1.1. If you are at 1.0, you will lose the high oven and that part of the steelmaking. It was decided that method was just too tedious for the pace I was trying to follow.

thank you so much for trying to fix this for me ...after every update i have deleted it and started over....i'm one of those people that has tons of chest all the time to keep my inventory empty i tried playing again today and my poor minecraft stopped working ...i love the game and used to play with my son. his job no longer gives him the time to play and he did all the tech for me so i when i saw this mod pack i was hoping to learn the stuff he always did.... i'm afraid to play on the servers because i do not want things stolen or destroyed while i'm not on. we always played co-op and i enjoyed that very much. i don't play hardcore. and commands sometimes baffle me lol. trying not to cheat as that defeats the purpose of this for me. i will delete and re install one more time thank you so very much for your help

If you are a member of a large Internet community, there are probably people hosting games there too that you can join. I am a member of the Something Awful forums in particular. I was also afraid to get on a server too, but everybody there--given you're already in their in-group from whatever forums or whatever--are extremely helpful. Quite a few will thrive on helping people get started. They'll let you inspect their bases and will diagnose problems with your stuff.
