Install MajiTex

Step 1

Installing a modpack using the Technic Launcher is easy. If you don't already have the launcher downloaded, visit our download page to get the latest version.

Step 2

Type in the modpack name (MajiTex) or paste the following url into the search box.

Step 3

Finally, click Install at the bottom right of the launcher after you select MajiTex from the list on the left. The launcher will handle everything else!

MajiTex Version 1.0

created by Caitria on Minecraft 1.7.10

This Modpack is a Final Release. There are much fewer problems, and they are known about (for the most part). Go ahead and report any major issues you find.

I do not have a Wiki yet. However, most of the individual mods in MajiTex have their own Wiki, or at the very least a page that describes what they do. Just search Google or Bing or what-have-you for the object/item you're interested in, as shown in NEI (which displays everything's name - with a few exceptions), and that should set you on the right path.

I have some things to note like a mini-FAQ, and those are:

1: You must set the Technic Launcher options to use 3GB of RAM, minimum. There is no way around this. I personally recommend no less than 4GB, and if you're using something like Soartex FanVer, you'll probably want more like 4GB, anyways. This is not a small modpack. See more at the footnote. In addition, you may need to specify "-XX:MaxPermSize=512m" or larger (I run "-XX:MaxPermSize=768m" myself) as a command-line/argument option to pass to Java7. I ran into some "OutOfMemory" errors in the development environment that required this change; this is not required for Java8 users, supposedly, but I do it anyways.

2: The keybindings and everything are what the mods set them to, with the exception of Rei's Minimap. I left those intentionally, because everyone has their own preferences. Everything seems pretty-well balanced as it is; both magic and technology have powerful stuff at their disposal... which means lots of possible keybinds. (We are not responsible for knotted fingers.)

3: In order to receive the full experience this modpack has to offer, you should, when creating a new world: a: From the "Create New World" menu, click on "More World Options..." b: Click on "World Type: Default" until it says "World Type: Biomes O' Plenty"

4: Don't turn on "Delete mode" in NEI and shift-click anything in an AE Terminal of any sort. In fact, there are several things in AE that don't like shift-click. It'll crash the client. :)

5: Mystcraft likes to bake cakes. While the link book problems that were present in RC1 have been fixed, Mystcraft seems to forget that it's already profiled a world even after it finishes. I haven't found a solution for this, so those of you that like to play single-player, I apologize - but talk to that mod maker; it's only been a thing since the last update or two.

6: Right-clicking on the center arrow (where one would normally get a recipes list for the machine in question) seems to crash the client with certain Railcraft machines. Be advised, as I have yet to test this one despite using Railcraft a lot lately.

7: To expand on the Java settings I use, after much trial-and-error, much reading around and studying of Java options, I have come up with the following string that seems to be working well both under Windows and Linux. Please be advised that these settings are specifically for my own quad-core with 16GB of RAM; some settings may actually make it run worse if you don't have at least a quad-core with 8GB:

-XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=100 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:G1NewSizePercent=50 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=80 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=10 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=50 -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch

Everything else is up to you. Play around with settings, let me know if something breaks (but don't /expect/ fixes... this will be worked on as I have time and feel like it, and some things maybe I just don't have the experience yet /to/ fix.. for which I apologize, but hey.)
