Note: If you are having trouble starting a world, try installing 64-bit java if your computer supports it. That might just be the solution you need for many modpack problems.
Be aware that this mod uses Iguana Tinker Tweaks which is designed to make the early game more difficult. You'll need a tinker's flint pickaxe to get copper and a clay bucket to get lava for the smeltery so you can melt copper to get a copper pick to get iron so you can get ingots to make a bucket that doesn't disappear when you use use it for lava.
Yeah, I know, annoying. But that's part of why this modpack is a challenge. After all, you're going to have to feed yourself with a variety of foods during this time as well.
Hint, you can't make a hoe below iron level, but you can make a tinker's mattock which can till soil.
