Meteors seem to spawn very frequently (intentional?), and spawn below the ground. They take out a chunk near them, as well. This makes a very good area to start mining, though

Hey man, as a reminder--the official Baby's First Space Race is now more up-to-date than the beta. You want to update to that. Copy your save over.

As an FYI, the beta has become the regular Baby's First Space Race. I have done a few tweaks beyond the initial update, but they're now going into regular Baby's First Space Race. You should be able to copy your save over from that mod pack if you became invested in it.

Does the Manly Bro Teleportation quest involve drinking fluid ender? Just a guess
zwarren03 7 years ago
Yeap. I am having some buggy interactions with fluid ender and resonant ender. You can theoretically drink the stuff with a straw, or also through a plastic cup. However, they don't necessarily pick up the fluid from the world. It is really nasty. I'm even having trouble filling reactors with resonant ender using buckets from a tank. I think something is broken in Thermal Dynamics. So for those quests, I managed to get a procedure for the plastic cup. I deleted the straw quest. It turned out they both actually had the exact same effect; the online documentation for each is out-of-date.

Just an FYI to anybody outside my normal circle trying to run the beta: I made an update yesterday. I then started to do more rigorous playtesting (finally!) and found a few bugs. I tried to make a hotfix. First I deleted the pack, then... somebody cut the fiber optic line in my city and wrecked my Internet feed. So the pack couldn't be downloaded for a bit. They get that line back up, so I'm back in business. The hotfix is in place, although it might technic some time to catch up.

That is a hilarious (but very irritating) reason for your internet to be wrecked

How many RAMs does this need?
zwarren03 7 years ago
It needs more than the base BFSR. It looks like RAM usage went up big-time when I threw in DecoCraft. I am starting to regret it, but I have a bunch of stuff around it now. So take what works with the base and add another 256MB on top of it. I play with variable amounts of RAM when trying out stuff, so I can't even give a good number anymore.

It definitely needs more than 1, but it doesn't need more than 7

There are also SERIOUS problems with village generation (i.e.: villages generating at y-132 when ground level is y-73)
zwarren03 7 years ago
And the smeltery of that same village generating at y=5, with a rectangular hole in the ground above it.
Posted by zwarren03 7 years ago
Ahh yes I already fixed that locally but I have to roll it out. You might delete the villages.dat out of your save, or from the bfsrworld template if you want a short-term fix. The problem is that file was lingering around from the save the game starts off from. So it'll have this file claiming villages are at X,Y,Z places. The terrain generator will slap some villages there, even if it doesn't make any sense. That was a real riot to figure out, I tell you . . .

I love it. Maybe try making the tutorial dimension into multiple dimensions? I don't know if that will help with lag.
zwarren03 7 years ago
I am just splitting up different demo areas in that dimension such that they are one kilometer apart. That makes sure they won't normally be resident at the same time.
