Tips for your survival:
Be sure to keep hydrated!
Cook in an inventive way!
Food can be found, and it doesn't have to be farmed!
Day 1: Harvest wood, berries, tomatoes and peppers. (don't get too dehydrated)
Night 1: Find a cave to hole up in. Get glass. (smelted sand)
Day 2: Make bottles, and drink water. Begin mining
Night 2: Begin cooking\hunting. Keep mining.
Day 3: Make a knife (Iron ingot and a stick). Attempt taming. Make a countertop using knife and stone\crafting table.
Night 3: Consider installing NEI
Day 4: Survive.
