A Whole Nother Adventure

A Whole Nother Adventure (AWNA) is a golden age style modpack that aims to reimagine Minecraft's Adventure Update. A lot of time has been put into making the modpack feel cohesive like it is an actual game rather than a bunch of mods put together. This modpack removes certain features present in the vanilla game while also adding plenty of new ones. In a way, this is Minecraft remade in my own vision, with a cohesive style and fresh gameplay loop, emphasizing both creativity and exploration.

Let's take a look at some of the features:

• A custom tutorial world akin to Legacy Console Edition (I would recommend starting here)
• Overhauled tool and dimension progression
• Completely overhauled textures for nearly every single block, entity, and item in the programmer art style (including modded ones!)
• Hundreds of custom crafting recipes and loot table tweaks
• A fully custom achievement line to guide you through the game's new progression
• Overhauled surface and underground world generation that combines most modern biomes with the craziness, fun, and beauty of beta terrain and caves (this is the default world generation option that is recommended to play with, but AWNA also has a ton of other world generation presets)
• Fully custom creative tabs
• Beta fog and lighting
• 4 new Overworld biomes and 3 returning beta biomes
• Isometric picture mode
• Brand new enchanting and repairing systems (complete removal of the vanilla enchanting table and anvil)
• Much rarer structures to make the world feel more lonely, with some vanilla structures removed entirely
• Subtle but meaningful lore integrated into the game design
• Better loot and progression reasons to visit structures to make them feel more rewarding
• Hunger and sprinting begone!
• Start with 5 hearts and gather Life Shards from defeating bosses to get back up to 10 hearts
• A ton of new redstone blocks and mechanics to facilitate creativity
• A new fishing system and journal that rewards exploration and collection
• Shields are no longer craftable and are now dungeon loot
• More music by C418 and a ton of custom sounds
• More paintings by Kristoffer Zetterstrand
• Super Secret Settings!
• Boss music for all 5 bosses (Wither, Slider, Valkyrie Queen, Sun Spirit, Dragon) as well as Sheepmen raids
• Seasons
• Better minecarts to encourage using them over other forms of travel
• Pre-combat update combat with adjusted weapon values and sword blocking
• The Aether! - fully integrated into the modpack's progression and not just thrown in there
• Overhauled Nether - removed foliage based biomes (Crimson and Warped Forests), added 3 new biomes, and added a secret biome above the Nether roof
• The End remade into the new Void dimension, with a fresh atmosphere and 1 new biome
• Beta style food stacking
• Multiplayer features such as voice chat, land claiming, player shops, shared chest and boss loot, and e4mc (there is also a server pack!)
• Brand new mob models for certain vanilla mobs (Villagers are now Cowmen, Illagers are now Sheepmen, the Wednesday frog, etc.)
• Full controller support
• Well optimized to run on most hardwares, even my older laptop
• A ton more! It's better to explore for yourself

This modpack has been in development by myself for the past 2 years. It started out as a simple fork of another modpack called Nostalgia Squared after it got discontinued, but quickly turned into its own thing with the many additions, removals, and changes made to the original modpack. Because this pack has been developed and updated for this long, it is in a pretty finished state and will update less frequently. I have been hosting it on my Discord server all this time but felt it would be a good idea to host it publicly on the internet as well. This modpack is a passion project of mine, it truly is my ideal way of playing Minecraft so I hope you can enjoy it as well.

Note: you may NOT upload this modpack anywhere else, it will only ever be available on Technic Launcher and my Discord server.

Official Colorful Lighting addon: Download

• This is a completely client side addon that features compatibility between the Colorful Lighting mod and AWNA. As AWNA aims to have a golden age aesthetic, colored lighting is made an addon so that the main pack retains that retro feel. The download features the Colorful Lighting mod in the mods folder, a config file in the config folder, as well as a custom resource pack in the resourcepacks folder. Simply drag and drop it into your AWNA instance, run the game, enable the resource pack (ensure it is the top resource pack), and enjoy. If you do not place the resource pack correctly, then all entites will appear as black. The addon has been configured so that all light blocks in AWNA work flawlessly.
