Install Blightfall

Step 1

Installing a modpack using the Technic Launcher is easy. If you don't already have the launcher downloaded, visit our download page to get the latest version.

Step 2

Type in the modpack name (Blightfall) or paste the following url into the search box.

Step 3

Finally, click Install at the bottom right of the launcher after you select Blightfall from the list on the left. The launcher will handle everything else!

Blightfall Version 3.1.1-CE

created by Talonos on Minecraft 1.7.10 using Technic Solder

haha my first suggestion would have been get to the nether asap but now we have nether less haha. My first tips now would be to start off following instructor quests which is a given but then secure food using pams harvestcraft food. use request seeds for more harvestcraft variety and if u need reputation for the seeds star doing scout missions. after getting food set for awhile just strip mineunder your base (especially if u choose alpha base)

try cancelling then deleting the pack (even though it isn't installed it will still say delete pack) and restart it that might work.
Posted by Kustomluke 8 years ago
maybe a location to one ore deposite, i cant find any oureclase for the life of me!
Posted by KreepyKreeper01 8 years ago
i didn't fine oureclase too hard to fine. You are mining in the swamp right. I just strip mined in a square directly below the swamp between the heights specified in the quest book and i found it alright
Posted by Kustomluke 8 years ago
ya i went into creative mode, and mined around ;) it helps to pinpoint exact ores
Posted by KreepyKreeper01 8 years ago
but not just oreclase, it could be cool to get a coord for copper and other rarer ores that you need

WHY THOSE IT SAY I NEED A 64 BIT JAVA PLEASE FIX FOR A 32 BIT JAVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
Posted by swordmaster345 8 years ago
they say it needs 64 bit java because the pack needs more then 1gb of RAM to actually load up, try upgrading your java
Posted by whitepyros 8 years ago
Hey pls help , i have the latest java but my launcher is 32 bit and it dosent let me play
Posted by art008 8 years ago
because you need 64 bit java. simple. install 64 bit, delete 32 bit, then play. :l
Posted by The_cheese_master 8 years ago
Yes, you can download the 64-bit version. I would check first, because you might already have it but technic isn't using it. To check, open the technic launcher, go to launcher options, java settings, minecraft java version and see if a 64-bit option is there. If it is, select it and then increase the ram to whatever you need. If it isn't, go here: (https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp), click offline (64-bit) and go ahead and install it. Then do what I said above to change the version technic uses. You also don't have to uninstall the 32-bit version, and I wouldn't, as some programs (still) don't have 64-bit support. Hope this reply helps, and that it wasn't too late!

SUGGESTION: make some wiki pages about rare items and where to find them... like uhm, the Totem of Dawn for example.. Totally not a selfish request.. but srsly. where da heck is that thing
Posted by 321Leviathan 8 years ago
Is an item for cleaning the taint, you have to research it in the thaumonicon, and is quite difficult to craft it, it uses infusion and a lot of essentia :/

Talonos, I need help. I click 'install' on the technic launcher, and it starts like usual installations. But then it says: Downloading Mod: blightfall-saves-v2.1.0.zip and it never loads. The progress bar stays at 0%. Is there any way I can fix this?

Thank you for posting this on the modpack updates. I was looking for something like this when starting

Please help! I have the newest version of Java possible and I am currently operating on a 64-bit version of Windows 10, yet Blightfall still says I'm using 1 GB of RAM, even though I have 8 GB of RAM in my computer. I don't know how to fix this or what to do.
Posted by diseaseofdeath 8 years ago
Okay, so do this. Launcher Options > Java Settings > Set the memory to 2+GB and you're done!
Posted by andrej32 8 years ago
Hey, this is to ANDREJ32, the highest option in the options is 1 GB, also, the MC version says 32-bit, do I need a 64-bit? Does a 64-bit version even exist?

This is kind of getting annoying. First it just wouldn't load, and now there's a system problem with it. I really need you to reply Talonos. It is saying that the file http://mirror.technicpack.net/Technic/mods/blightfall-saves/blightfall-saves-v2.1.0.zip has failed to download. And it told me to consult the modpack author, so I assume you're the only way I can fix this. I really want to play this modpack.
Posted by Febus9 8 years ago
When I try to download the modpack it does nothing as soon as it starts to download it stops at 0% and it doesn't progress.
Posted by seththeman360 8 years ago
Now it's downloading, it was just taking a wile to load.
Posted by seththeman360 8 years ago
Best starting suggestion I can give: avoid jumping whenever possible. Get some wood/stone slabs early to make steps in your base and always carry a few with you when you go exploring. It saves a lot of hunger (especially early when you dont have a wide variety of food options)

You should put all the basic coordinates on the wiki!

Just going to write an article for Tainticles, can't put up pictures but you can just pick up one off the Thaumcraft 4 wiki if you really need to. Please put this up on the wiki! Tainticle --------------------------- NOTE: This article refers to the Tainticle, rather than the Giant Tainticle. The Tainticle is a wiggling immobile mob that can be found anywhere in Tainted Lands biomes. They grow on Tainted Soil and can spawn on any such block that is in Tainted Lands. The first time a player kills a Tainticle, his/her Mission Outlook reputation rises by 8. In addition, killing 5 Tainticles (along with 5 Taint Spore Swarmers) will complete a repeatable quest that grants an additional 7 Mission Outlook reputation. --------------------------- Avoiding Tainticles --------------------------- There is usually no reason to fight a Tainticle. Doing so is voluntarily engaging in highly dangerous combat that is guaranteed to, if not kill you, do a great deal of damage and drain your food meter by a lot. The reputation gained from killing them can be gained much more easily in other ways. Luckily, the Tainticle is easily spotted from far away. To make this even easier, turning on hitboxes (f3 + b) will make them even more obvious as they are the only common enemy that has such a tall and thin hitbox. If you spot such a hitbox, just stay about 20 blocks away from it and it shouldn't attack you. -------------------------------------------------- Tainticle Combat Information -------------------------------------------------- Should you decide to attack the Tainticle, you're in for a tough fight in the earlier stages of the game. Tainticles have 2 attacks. One of them is a melee "squeeze" (according to the death message) which deals 2.5 hearts to those wearing no armor. The other attack is much more dangerous and is what makes Tainticles so dangerous. The Tainticle spawns a mini-taintacle under the player, called a Taint Tendril. These deal 1 heart of damage to the unarmored player on contact, and can't move. However, they are spawned right under the player, almost guaranteeing that they will land at least one hit. Not only does this deal minor damage, but the player is knocked back, interrupting the run towards the Tainticle to get into sword range. There is no point in killing the Taint Tendrils, they die on their own and don't drop anything. They have 3 hearts if you decide to kill them for some reason, which is low enough to be one-shotted by most weapons. NOTE: If the player is not standing on a taint block (Tainted Soil, Crusted Taint, Fibrous Taint) the Tainticle will be unable to spawn a Taint Tendril under him/her. Taking advantage of this is crucial to fighting Tainticles safely. When slain, a Tainticle can drop Tainted Goo or Taint Tendrils (the item, not the mob). It can also drop nothing if the player is unlucky. None of these drops is useful enough to warrant initiating such a dangerous fight. The Tainticle has 50 HP, or 25 hearts. --------------------------------------------- Slaying the Tainticle --------------------------------------------- To kill a Tainticle safely, you will need either a bow or some blocks and some creative thinking. The simplest way to kill a Tainticle, as with any mob, is to snipe it long-distance with a bow. A Tainticle won't react to you until you're within about 12 blocks, making it easy to kill from far away with no trouble. However, if you don't have a bow it'll take a bit more effort. Killing a Tainticle using only a melee weapon will require some blocks. About 20 will do. First of all, kill all the other hostile (and passive, you don't want tainted animals in your face either) mobs in the area. Now, what you want to do is take advantage of the fact that the Tainticle can't use its ranged attack on you if you're standing on an untainted block. Because of this, you'll want to place such a block about 15 blocks away from the Tainticle on the ground, and then bridge across to the Tainticle over the Tainted Lands. Approaching in this way allows you to totally bypass its ranged attack. Be careful when bridging, if you need to block your way up quickly you may not be able to because of the Fibrous Taint covering the ground. Once you've reached the Tainticle, don't get too close or it will give you a whack (squeeze?). Stay just in sword range and hit it repeatedly and it won't be able to harm you if you're careful. ------------------------------------------ So, was that good? If you'd like, I can write a few more articles about the other mobs? Let me know!
Posted by shade_of_ox 8 years ago
Eww, didn't realize how badly the formatting would be messed up. My bad, it looked good when I was writing it. You can still get the general gist, though.

Honestly, most amazing modpack I've seen in awhile. The only gripe that I have is that I wish I had the option to toggle the Spice of Life Mod. My issue with the mod is that I often find myself spending more time getting the items for new recipes than I have spent adventuring to find an aura that will give me the Vis I need to craft the item for my next objective. I should also add that I am playing the game singleplayer opposed to with a team. I can understand why the mod would be good with a team so that a chef could be appointed, but it makes singleplay way more tedious than I feel was intended.
Posted by DaveCopper 8 years ago
Pretty sure there is, just delete the mod from the folder? Not sure how much stuff that would break. At my stage I have 760 reputation so I just buy food using that since there's no reason not to. The scout and the geologist both give you a LOT of reputation.
