Viper-Craft Galaxy Version 1.7

created by ViperZeroOne on Minecraft 1.7.10

We are unable to test this modpack on all systems and servers, however, we are confident that (for the most part) it works. We have put this pack through extensive testing on our own server and client PC's to ensure it operates and is stable. That said, here are what we've determined are the minimum requirements.

CLIENT

  • Java 1.8
  • Minimum 3.5GB of RAM

SERVER

  • Java 1.8
  • Minimum 2.5GB of RAM (increases with player count)
  • 500MB of Hard Drive (increases with world size & automatic backups)
  • Using a Server Host? Read the last paragraph of the installation instructions below.

You might get away with using systems that don't meet the minimum requirements, but we won't offer support. For any technical support with the mods themselves, please contact their authors. The authors are conveniently listed under the Permissions tab on this page.

BUG REPORTING

If your equipment meets the minimum requirements listed above, and you have found a bug with the client or server please report it to us in the "Discuss" area. We check that page at least once a week, so be patient. Do not leave your contact information, as the discuss pages are public and it could be snatched up by advertisers.

SERVER INSTALLATION

These instructions require you to know the basics of setting up a Minecraft Server, and to have the required hardware to run this server.

Start by downloading the server ZIP file from this site, then extract it to a folder. This will be known as the \server\ folder. Now open notepad and type in the following lines;

@Echo off java -Xms512M -Xmx2500M -Dfastcraft.asm.permissive -jar Tekkit.jar nogui --nojline PAUSE EXIT

Please note, you may increase "2500M" based on how much memory you wish the server to use (and how much you have available) but do not decrease the number as the server may not start. This doesn't mean it WON'T start, as I've had the test server start with as little as 1500, but you're taking a risk. Save this file into your \server\ folder as "Startup.bat"

While you're in the \server\ folder open the file named "Eula" and where it says "false" change it to "true". If you don't do this the server will automatically stop before it finishes loading, so it's important.

Now you can run the "Startup.bat" file and your server should begin loading. Once it's done loading you should be able to connect to it with your VCG client. Enjoy!

Note, setting up the server through a professional server host (like Fragnet) may require different steps and this setup does not cover those customizations. For assistance with these issues contact your server host. It would be a good idea to give them a link to this page when you do. Note that most server hosts will be required to add the "-Dfastcraft.asm.permissive" option manually as you won't have access to this. Ensure this is possible prior to buying services from any host.

SERVER UPDATING

These instructions require you to know the basics of your Minecraft server and how the folders are organized. This update process will take a current VCG server, with an existing world, and update them to the latest version. Note, this process is NOT guaranteed to work for every update!

Start by downloading the newest server ZIP file from this site, then extract it to a temporary folder. We will call this the \TempServer\ folder. Your server's already existing folder, weather or not it's on your local PC, will be called the \Server\ folder for this tutorial.

  1. Make sure your live server is not running.
  2. Go to your \Server\ folder and make a backup of your World folders.
  3. Delete the MODS, LIBRARIES, and SCRIPTS folders.
  4. Delete the "Tekkit.jar" and "Minecraft_Server1.7.10" files.
  5. Go to the \TempServer\ folder
  6. Copy the MODS, LIBRARIES, and SCRIPTS folders to the \Server\ directory.
  7. Copy the "Tekkit.jar" and "Minecraft_Server1.7.10" files to the \Server\ directory.
  8. Start the server.
  9. During startup you may be asked to type "/fml confirm". Do it.

CLEAN CLIENT REINSTALL

From time to time older versions of this pack may leave behind "garbage" files when an update is performed. Occasionally these files can cause problems after an update. If you are experiencing problems after updating to a new version of VCG your first step, before notifying us of the issue, should be performing a Clean Reinstall of the mod pack to be sure a "garbage" file isn't the cause. Here are the steps to doing a clean reinstall of VCG;

  1. Open your Tekkit launcher and select Viper-Craft Galaxy.
  2. Beside the "Play" button click "Delete Pack".

WARNING: This will delete all VCG single-player worlds!

  1. When asked if you're sure, select "Yes".
  2. Use the search bar to find "Viper-Craft Galaxy".
  3. Select "Install".

This will download a clean copy of the latest VCG mod pack, just as if it was your first time installing it. Please note that any changes you made to the default settings, or key bindings, will have to be redone. Saved single-player worlds will also have to be copied back to the "saves" folder before you can access them.
