The Lost Era Version 1.2

This modpack is hidden and will not show up in the modpack index.

The Lost Era Modpack revolves around enabling players unlocking the full potential of modded Minecraft without hundreds of hours spent in research and their mental fatigue, information overload and burnout that comes with it.

Specifically, this is a modpack tailored to players who wish to learn on the go, bit-by-bit, without being stripped from choosing their own path.

Additionally, this is a one-size-fits-all kitchen modpack with Tech, Magic and anything in between, so regardless of personal interest everyone will be able to enjoy it together.

This, coupled with the fact you will learn as you go, means the modpack can accomodate players of any level (for as long as they can manage the vanilla survival experience that is).

Lastly, This project was made to be as performance efficient as possible so that the low end systems (henceforth referred as "Toasters") can run it.

What sets this modpack apart from the crowd is its progression system, based not on obtaining late game materials for bragging rights but rather focusing on the individual's creative prowess and ambitions.

It is up to the end user to define their goals as the system put in place is specifically designed to inspire them with ideas and support them in their endervour.

Ultimately the end goal of the pack is enabling the player to create a project that they themselves can marvel at be impressed by their achievements, staying close to the original phylosophy of the base game.

The questing system in this pack contains over 2,000 quests who's main purpose is to ensure that the player has a complete understanding of the contents available to them based on their personal choices.

This ensures players are only being presented with information they have a want and use at that point in their progression without being overwhelmed by information.

This system's progression is divided in 2 main classes, Magic & Tech, but there are also side-classes created for those players who enjoy non-conventional gameplay styles, such as Farmers, Spelunkers, Redstone Addicts and Automation Masters. At completion of any class treeline you will know by heart all the content & mechanics available to you, enabling you to unlock their full potential in any project you put your mind into.

These will only be available after they complete the basic quests that ensures the player has an understanding of the survival essentials.

Further read on my analysis on major issues affecting the player base can be found here:

To summarize the above, my aim is to make every player a modded veteran with the least amount of stress and burnout. It effectively removes the need for players to invest hours of their time in research in order to access and enjoy the contents available to them.

The contents of this pack adheres to the concept where each class has something unique to offer, much like other games.

As such the modpack introduces a balance using custom recipes, configurations and ore generation modifications. This is done organically without "hardcore style" recipes requiring difficult to obtain components simply for the sake of it being hard.

As such it can be categorized as an Expert Mode Pack although most of the true experts will be the ones finishing the pack and will not starting out as one.

This brings on an important point as what you once knew to be a tried and true overpowered mechanic, is very likely absent in the Lost Era.

The concept of freedom the pack offers relies entirely on individual preference, and while a M.E.T.A does exists it offers very little incentive for you to be true to your heart's wants.

Ultimately, every category offers something unique and valuable to the table, so no matter the playstyle, other players will want to trade and cooperate with each other.

This ensures the M.E.T.A. is playing with friends.

It is near impossible for a player to outclass others in every way without an equivalently large amount of playtime.

The main goal of the modpack is making it as accessible and widespread as possible and as such most Toasters with 3GB of RAM or above with a semi-decent processor will be able to run it.

Many months were spent finetuning the performance of the pack, be it from the selection of of each mod and their configurations to specialised performance mods.

While every playstyle has been fully fleshed out in content, it was achieved so with minimal to no overlapping contents of mods covering the exact same function, greatly reducing the bloatness you would usually find in kitchen sink packs.

You will recognise a number of performance boosting mods in this pack, be it client or server side such as:

-Fastcraft:

Greatly enhances performance across all systems through powerful optimizations found in detail here.

If there is ever a bug worth reporting to a mod developer with this pack, make sure to mention this mod.

-Optifine:

The go to FPS enhancing mod most of you have come across to. The best performing will be installed in game instance when you first run the game, effortlessly increasing performance.

Credit to PoWoKe for saving players from users' self-induced crashes.

-Better FPS:

Picks the best algorythm for your system to run Minecraft best.

-BugTorch:

Further optimizing Minecraft's logic through SpongeMixins.

... and other powerful mods including FoamFix, AI Improvements, Squidless, Stackie, etc.

The difficulty level of the modpack, while above average, it most felt in the early-game.

The standard vanilla Minecraft is pretty damn peaceful, so difficulty has been upped a bit without introducing new mechanics that would stray too far from the vanilla experience.

Things like hardcore darkness, a large variety of difficult enemies and dungeons you want to avoid early on to justify the mid and lategame that modded minecraft provides.

In short, the surviving part of Survival Minecraft is something one must take serious early on.

Food, shelter and a way to defend yourself is no longer a trivial part of the game, exploring caves will be much more omnious with a diversity of enemies and dungeons are a whole lot more difficult.

I would especially avoid Swamp and Snow biomes early on as the creatures there can be overly hostile to intruders.

A special thanks goes to Swedish_Kaito, SeraphSanshiro, PoWoKe and everyone who has contributed to the closed beta, especially so to BamBam01 for fixing and creating much needed tailor-made mods for the pack.
