Install Forge of the Ages

Step 1

Installing a modpack using the Technic Launcher is easy. If you don't already have the launcher downloaded, visit our download page to get the latest version.

Step 2

Type in the modpack name (Forge of the Ages) or paste the following url into the search box.

Step 3

Finally, click Install at the bottom right of the launcher after you select Forge of the Ages from the list on the left. The launcher will handle everything else!

General Information about this Modpack:

This modpack has been heavily inspired by Tekkit, Hexxit, and SkyFactory. It is the spiritual successor to my TekkHex modpack. I've focused in on blending the technical and adventuring aspects of those mods and added more herbs and spices. This creates an amazing world packed full of things to do: machines, magic, exploration, farming, adventure, leveling up, and questing!

Make sure to look below for the Major and Minor content mods to get a picture of what is to come!

Player Information:

  • You will need to allocate more ram in the technic launcher in order to run this modpack, by first installing Java 64bit and then going into Technic Launcher Options>Java Settings>Memory. Single Player is recommended to allocate 4-5gb of ram while joining a server should only need 4-4.5gb. If your computer is still struggling I would recommend allocating more ram or turn down render distance in game. If you want to enable resource packs or shaders you will want to enable more than 5gb of ram.

  • Please ensure that any time you update this modpack that you consider taking a backup of your world. FTB-Utilities is a fantastic tool to do so, but this still requires effort on your part to make sure you don't lose progress you would otherwise like to keep. Backup your world files located in %appdata%\Roaming\.technic\modpacks\forge-of-the-ages\saves. Automatic backups will be located in %appdata%\Roaming\.technic\modpacks\forge-of-the-ages\backups. Make sure to put your world file somewhere other than the modpacks\forge-of-the-ages folder as updating generally wipes that entire folder out.

  • In the interest of security, all of the included mods are hosted on Curse Forge and have been linked below. Please remember to always practice safe internet security habits!

  • The version number from now on will be structured as such: (Major update.Stability and compatibility checkpoint.Bug fixes, mod tweaks, and mod updates/additions)

Server Administrator Information:

  • I'm a big fan of grief prevention rather than grief cleanup which I'm sure most of you can approve of. Direct your players to the first part of the video linked below for the FTBUtilities mod under Quality of Life Mods. This is a fantastic way of allowing players to set up their own bases.

Worlds To Explore:

  • Vanilla minecraft worlds, but packed with more ores, trees, liquids, dungeons, mobs with variation, bosses, etc. Lots of mods contribute to making the vanilla world absolutely amazing to adventure in.
  • The Beneath is a fantastic place to mine and get a spook.
  • The Between Lands is a world of adventure with additional mobs, bosses, items and crafting, and more!
  • The Twilight Forest is a world of adventure in with additional mobs, bosses, items and crafting, and more!
  • Atum is a world of adventure with additional mobs, a boss with variants, items, and more!
