No NEI? with a modpack like this I feel its kinda necessary to have Not Enough Items mod installed...

I preferred the craft guide route, simpler, less intrusive, and no cheat mode. Really, craft guide gives you what you need, the only things it doesn't work on are MineFantasy stuff and intermediate advance Thaumcraft. But, It doesn't work with MineFantasy either, and Thaumcraft has its own Thaumicon. If the NEI plugin for MineFantasy were updated to this version I might switch at least for convenience.
Hey have you heard that Minefantasy 2 is out?
Yeah, but its not really the same mod, so I probably won't update this (other than updating MineFantasy I to 1.7+).
I do know someone, Eruraion, who is working on a sequal / spin-off based on MF2, though, but its still WIP and not actually out yet.
The currently WIP sequal I think will be called "Ruins of the Ancients," btw.
i know there is a book that tells you how to craft things but i think you should add too many items (i think its called) to make it easier

'G' for craft guide will let you look up anything that is based on vanilla crafting or smelting. Unfortunately NEI doesn't work with MineFantasy processes such as alloying, forging, or tailoring (there was an NEI plugin for this once, but it doesn't work with newer versions). I would like to make the craftguide work with these, but just haven't gotten around to trying yet. For now, the book (I guess you mean the pdf) is the only real resource that can help with that stuff.

I don't know what the "api error thing" is -- I don't think I've seen it. I have not trouble getting it to download myself. I could try asking on the forums, but I need more details about it.
Also, if you know who to install modpacks without Technic there is a direct download on the MinecraftForums page -- but if there is a real problem here I'd like to see if it can be fixed. Please tell me more.
Can u add the lord of the rings mod? I think it would be fun together with minefantasy. Also, can u add nei and waila? And maybe small ships and ars magica 2?

I don't think I'd put LotR in this, though I have thought of making a separate LotR/MF modpack -- it would take a lot of work since LotR add a lot of items to try to make craftable (unless I just make LotR items generallty uncraftable so you'd have to buy/find those and make the MF one). But probably not in this pack, this I basically consider "done."
