Install Shadows of Dystopia open beta

Step 1

Installing a modpack using the Technic Launcher is easy. If you don't already have the launcher downloaded, visit our download page to get the latest version.

Step 2

Type in the modpack name (Shadows of Dystopia open beta) or paste the following url into the search box.

Step 3

Finally, click Install at the bottom right of the launcher after you select Shadows of Dystopia open beta from the list on the left. The launcher will handle everything else!

That's all you can remember of last night.

You slowly open your eyes and stare at the sun. 

Then the memories slowly, but surely reemerge .

First it's the explosions, then it's the screams, 

and lastly, it's the freedom.

Freedom from that horrible system of human pain, labor, and ultimately, death.

However, freedom from the system that you and many others loathed so much did come at a price. Nobody had lived without the system before. Nobody knew how to live without the system. All you know is that it's finally time to rise from the ashes...

It's finally time to face The Shadows of Dystopia.


Welcome to the Shadows of Dystopia beta testing! 

As stated in the "short description", Shadows of Dystopia is a modpack that's sort of a cross between a tech and an adventure modpack. I'm still coming up with the official "story", but as it stands, it revolves around a futuristic world, but not too long after the fall of civillization. 

Currently I'm looking for a couple things:

1.Artists/graphic designers.
   A goal of mine is to be on par with the official Technic packs, and art is no exception. I kind of want the banner and logo to be similar to official technic banners/logos in style and quality. If you are good at that style, or know someone who is, please do let me know!

If you contribute art, your name/alias will be in the modpack credits when it's fully released. 

2.Mods that correspond with the theme.
   While I'm generally done compiling the "main" mods, there is still room for new mods that come up that fit in with the theme. I'm looking for two kinds of mods in specifics; structure mods and futuristic mods. Therefore, the criteria for valid suggestions is this:
A. Don't suggest a mod that doesn't fit in what-so-ever. If you have good reasoning, I'll be willing to look into it, but if you just say "U shood totally get orespawn cuz its cool", I'm just going to ignore you. (complete respect to TheyCallMeDanger. I love orespawn, but it's a good example of a mod that doesn't fit in this pack).
B. Don't suggest a mod that has "don't use this in a modpack" written all over it! I seriously don't want to hear "U should add mo' creatures!"
C. Don't suggest a mod that I'm already waiting on permissions for! Look at the changelog, you can see what I'm "sitting on".

If the mod you are suggesting doesn't apply to any of those, suggest away!

3. Post-apocalyptic builds to be used in ruins.
  If you are a builder and would like to contribute, I need post apocalyptic style builds for ruins. Considering how ruins works, there are a few things you need to keep in mind:
-Don't use blocks any newer than 1.3; they'll disappear!
-Don't use blocks with data; it won't transfer. That means spawners, chests, furnaces, or containers of any kind.
-Don't use blocks from mods; they'll disappear!
-Don't make your structures too large; it will make you crash!
scratch that! New mod allows for more freedom in generating structures! Make them as large and as intricate as you'd like! Also, chests sort of save. Even mod blocks will work! Just make sure they are from mods in the modpack!

If you contribute builds, your name will be put in the credits of the modpack when it is fully released. Oh, and don't worry, I'm not going to do anything wierd like redistribute your builds or use them in anything besides the modpack. 

As far as contact goes, just post in the discussion. If I want/need files from you, I will give you my email through some crafty method.

Latest Update

This pack is planned to get some MAJOR renovations this spring. It will be completely revamped with a more agrarian skies style start to it, with a custom spawn area, quests, story, NPCs, and a revised set of mods better suited to the theme of the pack!
